Doctors at Duke University treating the 57-year-old Carter released a statement saying surgery is not a good alternative at this time, although "we discussed an aggressive treatment plan with Mr. Carter and his family, which will include chemotherapy and radiation."</p>
<p>Carter, who just wrapped up his second season as baseball coach at <a href="http://www.pbasailfish.com/" target="_blank">Palm Beach Atlantic University</a>, plans to undergo treatment near his home in Florida.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most people watching ‘ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball’ game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets knew that the reason the crowd suddenly erupted into cheers was because they had just found out Osama Bin Laden had been shot dead by American special forces.</p>
<p>The players on the field, however, had no idea.  “I really didn’t understand what was going on there for a minute,” <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillies_zone/USA-chants-confused-Phillies.html">said Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee,</a> whose team wound up losing 2 to 1 in 14 innings.</p>
