The traveling exhibit, "Texas Czechs: Rooted in Tradition," opens Thursday at Victoria College's Museum of the Coastal Bend. Through engaging text, colorful photography and short films, the exhibit educates audiences about the impact of Texas Czechs on the state's shared culture and about the value of cultural preservation.

The open house is an opportunity to discover what volunteering at the museum is all about. Attendees are invited to check out a selection of hands-on activities as well as the permanent exhibit, "Where Texas History Began"

Fascinating stuff! The ancient skeleton of a child was discovered near the village of Mal’ta in south-central Siberia in the late-1920's. A recent DNA analysis of the skeleton, believed to be 24,000 years old, has shown that the Mal’ta child’s people were ancestors of modern Native Americans, suggesting First Americans came directly from Siberia.

The roundup includes a branding activity and registration for the Statewide Cattle Dipping Vat Inventory, along with news and information about the museum's exhibits and the chance to visit with other area ranchers.
