While it has been long assumed that the more time you spend in a rural setting the better your mental health, a new study has shed light on why this is.

A team of scientists based in Germany scanned the brains of 32 volunteers from rural and urban areas while they tried to complete puzzles with time limits.

After her parents nipped her horse-owning dreams in the bud, German-based Regina Mayer didn't give up.

Instead of begging and pleading as most young ones do, she decided to take matters into her own hand by training Luna, one of the family's cows.

Mayer spent hours with the brown-and-white cow, teaching it how to run, jump hurdles and respond to commands like "go," "stand" and "gallop." The massive cow can even be ridden with a saddle.

Jens Lehman and Tim Wiese are two of the better soccer goalkeepers in the world, having both represented Germany in international competition.

Now, Lehman is suing Wiese for telling a newspaper reporter that Lehmann should "go to the 'Muppet Show'" and be treated "on a couch."

And it wasn't as if Wiese's barbs were without provocation: They were actually in direct response to criticism Lehman has levied against Wiese when Lehman was working as a television commentator.

Boy Finds 24-Year-Old Message in a Bottle, Responds

Nearly a quarter of a century ago, a young German boy named Frank Uesbeck wrote a message, stuffed it into a bottle and threw it out to sea. This year, he finally received a reply.

The bottle was discovered by 13-year-old Daniil Korotkikh, a Russian boy who was walking along the beach with his parents when a glint in the sand caught his attention. There, he discovered a corked German beer bottle with a piece of paper inside. Fortunately, Korotkikh's father was able to read German and translated the message.
