The Jackson County Youth Fair kicks off Saturday with a parade through downtown Edna. From first responders with area fire departments to student marching bands, more than 80 entries are expected to participate in the longest running parade in the county. This year marks the 65th anniversary, said Dee Darilek, event organizer.

The Edna High School Class of 1954 will hold it's 60th class reunion on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Edna Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

The "Flag City Opry" is tonight at 7pm at 411 N. Wells Street in Edna There will be a catered meal served at 6pm by Werner's of Shiner.  The meal will consist of enchilada casserole, spanish rice, charro beans, corn, rolls & tea.  Meal $7.00 per plate. Show starts at 7:00 PM - $5.00 per ticket.

The Jackson County Master Gardeners will hold their free Come Grow With Us Seminar on Tuesday, August 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the County Services Building Auditorium, 411 N. Wells in Edna. This month seminar will feature Gil Livanec, Brazoria County Master Gardener and he will talk about stone fruits and how to select the correct fruit trees for this area and, including information on fruit trees tha

It's almost that time again. Crossroads cowboys and cowgirls will soon gather their teams to saddle up and prove their skills in the arena during the annual Saddle Up for Alzheimer's Event from Aug. 15 to 17 at the Brackenridge Main Event Center, 284 Brackenridge Parkway, in Edna. Looking for a way to give back to your community? An Edna food pantry is in need of a few good hands to help them Friday. The First Assembly of God Church is one of few Jackson County locations providing a monthly service to its community by donating groceries to more than 160 families in its communities.

The International Aerobatic Club Contest will take place from 10 a.m. til dusk on July 18 to July 20 near Edna. They will also be on site for practice on July 17. The airport is located on County Road 4142, approximately 3 miles north of Edna off Highway 59.

To help extend the message of Warrior's Weekend, Sgt Alex Alvarez and a friend, Staff Sgt. Dean Plummer, created Edna's first Red, White and Bulls event, which will kick off Thursday at Brackenridge Main Event Center.

They are going to do it up right outside of Edna this 4th of July weekend! The Jackson County Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Brackenridge Park and Campground, 891 Brackenridge Parkway.
