Sometimes it takes months, sometimes it takes years. That's the truth about a lot of things, especially making a name for yourself in the country music business. The hard part is attracting enough fans to become well known. The harder part is keeping them.
Music, music, and more music is being performed in Victoria and the surrounding communities. Monday evening you have the opportunity to enjoy some great jazz played by some of the most talented jazz musicians the crossroads has to offer... and it's free!
I've told you before... Victoria is just full of pleasant surprises! One of the coolest is The Crossroads Community Band. Where else do student and adult musicians get together to practice and perform the music that was (and still is) a large part of their lives? This opportunity to perform music together is a great outlet for musical talent from all around the crossroads area.
This one goes into the "I'm not sure how I feel about this" file. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for Lady Antebellum and their success. They certainly deserve everything they get. But, as you will see in the details below, this could be a disaster waiting to happen. Lady Antebellum is a very talented group, but I'm not sure that their brand of music is what this crowd will be looking for. What do you think?
As you can imagine, I receive a LOT of promotional music and material. I make a point of listening to all of the music that crosses my desk. You never know who will be the 'next big thing'. When i hear something I like or i think it has potential, I keep it on hand. At this writing, I'm looking at a promotional photo of Eric Church I received some two or two and a half years ago. Sometimes even I'm right.
Brad Paisley's "Virtual Reality Tour" has been such a success it may go on forever. If you get a chance to catch a show somewhere, I highly recommend it.
Lionel Richie was one of the most respected songwriters and performers of his time. Even though his music had nothing to do with the country genre, he is admired and respected by the country music community. If you don't know who Lionel Richie is, you will know very soon.
How cool would that be? Lady Antebellum is performing at your high school prom and you're the one who got them there!! On top of that, you and your date get to meet them!! It's going to be a dream come true for some lucky guy or girl.
At the beginning of last year, news sources started reporting that Shania Twain was going the Celine Dion route and planning for a residency show on the Las Vegas strip. Now, more than a year later, the ‘Any Man of Mine’ singer is in pre-production for the show, according to CBS Las Vegas.
You might be surprised how many country artists have musical projects "on the side". Even when I was playing live music all over the country with Joel Nava, we always had something else going on weeknights. (Does anyone remember "Sox For The Fish or A Little On The Side?... I didn't think so...) It seems the tradition continues. Even Miranda Lambert has an extra project going on.
It's rodeo season in Texas! Seems like, around here, you hear more about the Houston rodeo than any other. But there's a great rodeo in San Antonio that's filled with fun and tradition. The San Antonio rodeo has a great lineup of big-time talent year in and year out. Take, for example, Alan Jackson. You can't get any more big-time than that.
