Iconic country musician Willie Nelson will celebrate his 80th birthday on April 30. He marked the special occasion by taping a special for CMT in Nashville last week. Nelson was joined by an all-star roster for a special episode of CMT Crossroads titled 'Willie Nelson and Friends from Third Man Records.'

Congratulationss are in order for country heavyweights Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. These seven artists have been selected as the 2012 CMT Artists of the Year. Each one had a banner year, so they certainly deserve this impressive and important accolade for a variety of reasons.

We've discussed this before. There are WAY too many awards shows for my liking. It seems as if EVERYBODY gets an award of some sort. I'm not saying they aren't talented... I'm not saying they don't deserve it... for the most part. I'm saying it dilutes the meaning of an award when everybody gets one. After more than 90 shows in Europe and South America performing as the lead singer of Journey, Filipino rocker Arnel Pineda recently told ABS-CBN morning show Kris TV that the American rock band is about to take a step toward a country collaboration. According to LazyRocker.com, Pineda said that Journey have plans in 2012 to perform with Rascal Flatts for ‘CMT Crossroads.’

The tagline for CMT's latest show "CMT Made" is "Dreams Have No Age Limit". 28-year-old Victoria resident and police officer Chris Guerra will be putting that to the test tomorrow night on the premiere episode of "CMT Made".

Chris has had a lifelong interest in professional wrestling and will be given the chance to live out his dream after a grueling six weeks of training with TNA wrestler, "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan.

Justin Bieber Proclaims Love for Country Music

There’s no escaping Justin Bieber these days – not on the radio, not at a theater near you, not at the NBA All-Star Game and not at the CMT Music Awards, where the 17-year-old recently picked up an award for Collaborative Video of the Year.

Though some country fans might have been taken aback to see Bieber sharing a screen with Rascal Flatts in the video for “That Should Be Me,” he came by his affection for the genre the good old-fashioned way: from his mother.

“It’s great,” Bieber said after the show. “It’s so many people my mother admires, ’cause she loves country music, and I do too. So it’s really great to be here with Rascal Flatts.”
