Another group of local young people have made Victoria extremely proud! St. Joseph High School varsity cheerleaders swept first-place honors while attending the Moody Gardens Resort UCA Cheerleading Camp July 30-Aug. 2.

I love it when I get to recognize a young Victorian for their hard work and accomplishments! Today our award winner is only 8 years old!

We are quite blessed to have a great, community-minded newspaper in the Crossroads and now they have been duly recognized in the 'Texas Better Newspaper" competition.

If you live in Victoria and the surrounding area and are interested in art, you should become familiar with the Victoria Art League. The VAL is a vital resource for the crossroads art community.

Yay!! Another awards show is on the horizon!! We've been through this before and, by now, you probably know how I feel about awards shows. But, just in case you don't, here's a little refresher; #1... I think music is an art and I don't think we need 'art contests'.  #2... There are way too many awards shows. That being said, I'll be watching just like you.

Congratulations are in order once again for Jake Owen, as his latest single, ‘Alone With You,’ has reached gold certification for digital downloads exceeding 500,000 copies sold.

David Nail‘s new favorite color just might be gold, seeing as how two of his hit singles — ‘Let It Rain’ and ‘Red Light’ — both have just been certified gold by the RIAA, which gives virtual bling to tunes which garner downloads exceeding 500,000 copies.

Lady Antebellum’s “Just a Kiss” has claimed the top spot on the Billboard country chart for a second week in a row and climbed to #1 on the Country Aircheck chart, taking the place of the Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffet's "Knee Deep".

Every once in a while a new country artist comes along that you just like from the beginning. I liked Jake Owen from the first time I heard him.
