Himesh Gandhi, an attorney and Sugar Land city councilman, will deliver the keynote address during the Dec. 15 University of Houston-Victoria fall graduation ceremony. Gandhi is an attorney and partner with the law firm Hrbacek & Gandhi P.C. He represents individuals and businesses in real estate, business issues, corporate and commercial matters and litigation.

Known for his community and civic involvement, Gandhi was elected in May to the city council. At age 35, he became the youngest candidate in history to win an at-large Sugar Land City Council seat. "It's an honor and a privilege to have been asked to participate in this very special day, a significant milestone that marks a new beginning for our next generation of leaders," Gandhi told the Victoria Advocate. "As these young men and women embark on their next journey, I hope they remember this commencement as a turning point in their lives and a day of hope and opportunity. I am looking forward to sharing in this momentous occasion."

Gandhi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Houston Baptist University. He went on to obtain a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the South Texas College of Law. He also has been a board member for several community organizations, including the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Child Advocates of Fort Bend and Sugar Land Exchange Club. He was the past chairman of the Indo-American Forum and the vice chairman of Arc of Fort Bend.

"Councilman Gandhi has been a good friend and a great supporter of UHV programs in Sugar Land and the Fort Bend area," said university president Phil Castille. "Collaboration with city leaders in Victoria and Greater Houston can only help us carry out our mission of providing students with educational and leadership opportunities."
