Well it is finally here baseball fans.  Spring training is back in the MLB and it will certainly be a very interesting season for baseball.  The Rangers are coming back after the best season they have had in the franchise winning the American League Division, and hopefully the Astros at least make the playoffs this year.

The Texas Rangers will be playing their spring training games in Surprise Arizona this year at Surprise Stadium.  They switched stadiums back in 2003 from Florida to Arizona.  It's actually a really nice stadium.  It features two-37,000 square foot clubhouses, with locker rooms, weight and training facility, a practice infield and 6 full practice fields.  They actually share the stadium with the Kansas City Royals.

The Houston Astros play in Orlando Florida at Osceola Stadium.  This has been the spring training home for the Astros since 1985.  The Stadium is a fan favorite as they have "Autograph Alley" and one of the best stadiums in baseball.  It is however the smallest ballpark for spring training.

The Astros first game is on Monday which will be played at Disney versus the Atlanta Braves.  The following day on March 1st they will travel to Osceola Stadium in Kissimmee for another game versus the Braves, then they play the Tigers, Yankees, and the Marlins to begin Spring Training.

The Texas Rangers begin their spring training on Sunday versus the Kansas City Royals for two days, then they will battle the Mariners, Angels, and then the Indians to begin the season.

A little fun fact for ya, did you know Country legend Charley Pride is actually part owner of the Texas Rangers and works out with them during Spring Training and the regular season?  He also used to play baseball in the Negro League.  He's either singing or playing baseball, both of which he loves so much.

I hope you're as excited as I am for baseball season, especially now that football is over.  Of course, the high gas prices that we are expecting will certainly make it hard to attend the games this year in Houston, especially Arlington.
