Here is the latest for area schools:

VISD:

VISD essential district personnel are scheduled to report to work on Thursday, August 31. Students are looking for a September 5th return. There has been significant damage to campuses across the Victoria ISD as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Attention is needed before classes can resume!

All personnel in the following areas are requested to report to work on Thursday, August 31st, if possible to assist with our efforts: administration, central office, satellite staff, maintenance, technology, child nutrition, warehouse and custodial staff. (This is all staff not on a 187 day contract) These preparation days will allow us to resume school for all students and staff on Tuesday, September 5th. If you are not able to report on Thursday or have questions, please contact your immediate supervisor.

St. Joseph High School:

St. Joseph High School will resume classes on Tuesday, September 5. All extra-curricular and athletic activities will also resume on this date. This decision has been made in order for our students and families to safely
return to their homes and begin the process of recovering from the storm. The STJ administration is currently working with the Victoria Office of Emergency Management, American Red Cross, and State and
Federal agencies as they provide shelter to more than 300 South Texas residents who are using the Flyer Dome as a community shelter. This extended school closure will allow us to take care of any storm-related
issues on campus before the students return.

Calhoun County ISD decision is still pending
