In anticipation of another hot summer, the Salvation Army is seeking donations of bottled water and individual snack items as well as volunteers to man the cooling station it plans to open beginning Monday. "We want to give those who have no place to go somewhere to get out of the heat," Jeff Ralston, social services director, told the Victoria Advocate. "They can come in, have some water and a snack. Even play a board game or dominoes," he said.

The cooling station at the Salvation Army,1306 N. Louis St., will be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. beginning Monday. The station is only open on weekdays. To volunteer or for more information on donating, call Jeff Ralston at 361-576-1297.
