Robbery By Fear Charge?

Are you kidding me.  I had no idea there was such a thing.  This story was already blogged about before here on KIXS.com but I thought I would share again.  I am confused by the charge this kid has.  I have never heard of the charge "robbery by fear".  The guy didn't have a weapon of any type when robbing the gas station for money so he wasn't convicted of armed robbery or anything similar.  I never thought you could get a charge like that.  I have been doing it wrong all these years.

So let me get this straight, if I plan on robbing a store or bank, without a weapon, and I by chance get caught doing so, all I would get is a robbery by fear charge?  OK, that really doesn't sound bad but I do believe it's still a first degree felony and that's where the system gets you.  You will still be in jail for a long long time.

So kids, what did we learn today?  The first thing I learned was if your going to rob somebody it's better to do it without a weapon.  Also, if your going to rob somebody always know your surroundings.  Seriously scope the place out first inside and out to make sure THERE ARE NO COPS BEHIND YOU!  It's bush league that kid didn't see the cop.  How could you not notice a cop.  Noob.
