DeTar Healthcare System, Liberty Coffee Haus and Birdy’s Tweets have joined forces to support breast cancer awareness.

“We all believe that knowledge promotes good decision making, which in turn leads to women making choices that both empower and strengthen us,” said Judith Barefield, marketing director for the DeTar Healthcare System.

The trio of businesses decided to promote awareness and raise money to support breast cancer treatment and technology. From October 1st through the 10th, they will offer a signature drink and sweet treat and, as a group, will donate 50 cents from each one sold to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The color pink is widely associated with breast cancer awareness so it’s no surprise that the group chose this as their signature color for this promotion.

“I started my career as an educator, and the opportunity to remind women of the importance of taking care of themselves offers me a chance to continue in that path,” added Jade Manning, owner of Birdy’s Tweets. “The Lemonade Pound Cake I regularly offer at Liberty Coffee Haus is a huge hit, and this month I put a special spin on it and made a Pink Lemonade version. The pink color hopefully will remind women that they need to schedule their annual screening mammography to take care of themselves.”

In addition to the sweet treat, Liberty Coffee Haus will provide raspberry white hot chocolate/peppermint mocha with pink-tinted whipped cream.

“Women’s health concerns are important to all of us,” said Rachel Adame, owner of Liberty Coffee Haus. “If we don’t take care of ourselves first, we are unable to take care of all those who depend on us. This is my way of giving women that gentle nudge and giving back to the community as a whole through the donation.”

Liberty Coffee Haus and Birdy’s Tweets are open 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening and 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each Friday.
