Rascal Flatts Kept Things More Fun Than Structured When Recording New Album
Rascal Flatts have been pioneering country music groups since their debut in 2000, which means they've spent a lot of time in the studio, making albums. But this time around, the trio concentrated on the most important thing: having fun.
Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney are hard at work on their upcoming album, which will be home to their new single, 'Rewind.'
"We really concentrated on having fun and not staying into some core perspective of ‘this is what we’re gonna sing about, this is what we’re gonna do.’" LeVox says, explaining the process. "We really just had a blast and the best songs rose to the top and I think ‘Rewind’ is a great way to debut the new album that drops in June."
Adds the singer, "So we’re thrilled to have this music out and just can’t wait for everybody to hear it.”
Flatts fans can of course expect to hear the band's signature, harmonic sound on the new release, but the band's openness led to songs that are a little outside the realm of what they normally record.
"You know, a song is a song that kind of tells the same story it’s just trying to tell it differently in a newer and fresher way," LeVox says. "And I think that’s what we did."
"I think we kind of went outside the Rascal Flatts box and took some chances on some songs that we probably wouldn’t have cut before in the past," the RF singer concludes.
That only deepens the interest in the upcoming project from Rascal Flatts, and with eight previous records under their belt, it will be exciting to see the product which was born out of fun!
