Prescribed Burn Seminar Tuesday

The 'Coastal Bend Prescribed Burn Association' will hold an all day semina beginning at 8am Tuesday, July 28th, at the Dacosta Sons of Herman Hall, 15736 Farm-to-Market Road 168. The agenda is as follows;

8:00 - 8:30 – Registration $25.00

8:30 – 9:30 - Burning on the Coastal Prairie. History, fuel types and fire behavior. Private Consultant. Wayne Hanselka.

9:30 – 10:00 - Writing a burn plan and preparing the burn site. The Nature Conservancy. John DeLeon.

10:00 – 10:15 - Break

10:15 – 11:00 - Laws and Regs of Fire in Texas. Private consultant. Dr. Lynn Drawe.

11:00 – 12:00 - Fire Weather. NOAA. John Metz.

12:00 – 1:00 - Lunch Provided.

1:00 – 1:45 – Personnel and Public safety with fire and smoke. Victoria County Fire Marshal. Ron Pray.

1:45 – 2:45 – Benefits of burning. Stephen Deiss. GLCI.

2:45 – 3:15 – Implementing prescribed fire. Go, No Go. Ranch Biologist. Brett Huegele.

3:15 – 3:30 - Wrap Up.

2 CEU’s in IPM for Herbicide Applicator’s License.

7 CFT’s for CPBM License.
