I have a cousin who is seriously into "paddling". When I say seriously, I mean Texas Water Safari seriously. She's very excited about some upcoming "paddling trips" designed for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Local guide Alan Raby is leading two paddling trips along segments of Texas Parks and Wildlife's Port O'Connor Paddling Trail, says the Victoria Advocate. The trip includes lunch and an introduction to the ecology of the bays and marshes by Texas Master Naturalist Allan Berger.

A 6-mile round trip paddling tour at Barroom Bay is from at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10. This trip is ideal for novice paddlers. A second 13-mile round trip will be at Mule's Slough Marsh from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The second trip is ideal for experienced paddlers.

The trips are $20 per person and include lunch and soft drinks. Proceeds support San Antonio Bay Partnership efforts to protect, restore and enhance estuaries for the benefit of the ecosystem and its human uses.
