Annette Gerhardt brought her 6-year-old daughter to the local police station and told her that it was where bad girls ended up.

At least that's what she told police was going on when she attempted to leave the girl there at the station.

Gerhardt's daughter Enalya had been misbehaving and she attempted to have officers play along with the act. Gerhardt told police it was just an attempt to scare her daughter into behaving. The police not only didn't cooperate, they got a little upset.

Gerhardt and her fiance Gerardo Santiago, who was said to be in on the ruse, were arrested for misdemeanor child endangerment when they left their daughter in the police station. Police suspect the two parents of actually trying to abandon their child and only pretended it was a scare tactic after they were arrested.

Gerhardt's lawyer, Matthew Blum, claimed it was all a misunderstanding that police blew out of proportion and that her only mistake was not contacting the station ahead of time to explain what she had in mind.

Unfortunately for the engaged couple, this is not the first time they've landed on the wrong side of the law.

Gerhardt and Santiago were charged in April of last year with misdemeanor drug possession after police found 4-1/2 ounces of marijuana in their home.

Enalya was placed with her grandmother until this past Tuesday and is now back at home with her parents.
