Victoria native Roman Madrid was drafted by the San Diego Padres yesterday in the seventh round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft.

The Padres selected the University of Central Florida junior pitcher with the 225th overall pick.  Madrid is the 12th player of the Victoria Generals to be drafted in the team's four-year history.

If Madrid makes it to the Double-A level in the Padres organization, he would play for the San Antonio Missions of the Texas League.

The Generals head to the Woodlands today to take on the Strykers tonight for a quick one game road trip.  They are back at home tomorrow night against the McKinney Marshals at 7:05 for Thirsty Thursdays!  $1 draft beer all game long!
