Victoria is full of history from DeLeon Plaza to the buildings that surround the square. On Saturday, downtown groups will put members of the community to the test during the Old Victoria Photo Scavenger Hunt. The Main Street Program is teaming up with Victoria Preservation Inc., the Victoria TX Independent Film Festival and other downtown businesses to host a scavenger hunt, said Sara Rodriguez, executive director of the Main Street Program.

Similar to the Case of the Dead Paparazzi murder mystery the program hosted in March, the hunt will consist of various locations where participants will have to determine the answer to the clue. "We wanted to stir interest in Victoria's history," Rodriguez told the Victoria Advocate. "The clues are very specific to Victoria but are easy enough to answer, too."

Participants will have a chance to visit each location listed on the scavenger hunt playing card and submit their answers to the questions. More clues for each location can be retrieved from the VTXIFF phone application, which can be downloaded ahead of time. Brush up on Victoria's history now and win prizes from various area businesses. The prizes include items such as T-shirts, Nave memberships, passes to the 2014 film festival and more, Rodriguez added.

Registration is necessary and can be done online. There is no fee for the event, and all participants should bring a good pair of shoes and a fully charged cellphone if they are going to use the phone app, she said. There will be paper versions available for people who do not have smartphones.
