Getting ready for Carrie Underwood's upcoming appearance on Taste of Country Nights on Friday got me to reminiscing about the times I've spent with her over the years.

I first met Carrie when she called into my then-midday show to talk about her recent success on 'American Idol.' She was so shy, but obviously just as sweet as we all know she is now. I found out that day that we share the same love of scary movies, and I joked about my obvious crush on her. She talked about her small town upbringing and what we all now know was to come in her very bright career.

You know me -- when it comes to an interview, I'm going talk about what's on my mind. I had to ask this then-rising star about her love life. I was shocked at what she said next: "I thought we were getting married?" Ha! I said, "Let's do it!" But here comes the separation of star and stupid, poor DJ -- she then said, "You can't afford me!"

Little did I know then the ring and the wedding she would eventually have. I'm glad it wasn't me having to pay for that! It's going to be beanie weenies and a barn setting for me and my upcoming bride -- maybe I shouldn't hold my breath, huh?

I'm looking forward to catching up with Carrie every hour on Friday night on Taste of Country Nights. I hope you'll kick your weekend off with us!
