The National Day of Prayer will be at noon Thursday at DeLeon Plaza in downtown Victoria, 101 N. Main St. This year's theme is "One Voice, United in Prayer," based on Bible scripture Romans 15:6. Carl Schneider of Hospice of South Texas will be the master of ceremonies, and Carl Westbrook will give the keynote address, says the Victoria Advocate. Students from Nazareth Academy, led by director Ralph Nance, will provide the music, and six local pastors will pray.

America's first National Day of Prayer occurred in 1950, and Victoria held its first official day in 1993. All across America there will be prayer breakfasts, meetings and events to mark this occasion.

Some seating will be provided, but it is suggested attendees bring their own chairs. For additional information, contact Raymond Smith at 361-578-1210.
