Each week, the CMT show ‘CMT Top 20 Countdown‘ counts down the week’s Top 20 country music videos, interviewing artists in between and focusing on the best in current country. This week, Miranda Lambert‘s new video for her emotional single ‘Over You’ debuted on the show, and it broke a record by starting out at No.3 — the highest ranked video debut in the history of the program.

‘Over You’ is Lambert’s current single from her Nov. 2011 record, ‘Four the Record.’ A co-write with husband Blake Shelton, ‘Over You’ is a heartbreaking ballad written about the untimely death of Shelton’s older brother, Richie, who was tragically killed in a car accident when Shelton was only 14 years old.

In the video for the single, directed by Trey Fanjoy, Lambert conveys the somber mood with dark colors, a white horse and period attire that looks to be from the early 1900s. Within two weeks of its March 1 premiere, the video had more than 1.5 million views on Vevo, and the song is currently sitting comfortably at No.12 on Billboard’s Country Songs chart. Likely adding to the video’s mass appeal was the real emotion the usually sassy and independent woman let come through in the filming process.

In a behind-the-scenes clip from the filming, Lambert admitted that she felt like she was going to cry on camera, which it appears she did, only making it more personal and relatable to her audience. Talking to Taste of Country about the song a while back, Lambert conceded, “You know, I cry every time I listen to it. I think that’s the most personal song that as a couple we’ve ever put out.”
