Miranda Lambert‘s new hit ‘Over You’ has battled songs from Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts and Jason Aldean in a run toward Taste of Country Showdown immortality. It’s a superstar lineup that only a brilliant hit like hers could navigate. By beating Aldean’s ‘Fly Over States’ in last week’s Showdown, ‘Over You’ is just one win away from enshrinement in the Hall of Fame.

Now, only Carrie Underwood is standing in her way. This week it’s an all-female Showdown as ‘Over You’ battles ‘Good Girl.’ Underwood’s new song is also soaring up the Billboard singles charts, setting her up for what should be a very big day on May 1, when she releases her highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Blown Away.’ This uptempo warning to women everywhere is impossible to ignore. Underwood grabs you by the shirt collar and demands your attention.

Lambert’s ‘Over You’ couldn’t be more different. The power in this ballad is between her words. It’s the emotion and expression that lingers between each verse and chorus. While this song isn’t about the loss of her own relative — Blake Shelton provided the inspiration — Lambert’s performance is definitively personal.

Listen to both songs and decide which is the better song. Vote in the readers poll below and let a friend or two know to that your favorite artist needs help. It’s going to be an epic battle between two 2012 ACM Award-nominated country ladies. Polls close at 11:59PM ET on April 1.
