Animal Lover Miranda Lambert Lends a Hand to Animal Sanctuary
If there’s an animal in need, Miranda Lambert is there. She is always on the lookout for her furry friends, whether they’re in a ditch, on the side of the road, or victims of natural disasters. She’s even privy to helping out needy animals when she’s backstage at her own concerts.
The ‘Fastest Girl in Town’ singer recently gave $5,000 to the Popcorn Park Zoo after a chance meeting backstage. Lambert met fan Kelly Coleman and her husband Mark Razz prior to the show, and instead of discussing favorite songs, Coleman talked about the singer’s greatest passion: animals.
The fan mentioned she’d heard the vocal powerhouse was working with Pedigree to feed a local animal shelter for a year, and shared that she had nominated Forked River, New Jersey’s Popcorn Park Zoo as a recipient. It’s a shelter for domestic animals, which also houses exotics and zoo animals that have been abused, neglected, or are on death row. Popcorn Park offers a safe and loving retreat for these sweet animals, but had been inundated by dogs and cats because of the effects of Superstorm Sandy.
In short, the shelter needed funds.
That’s all Lambert needed to hear — she sent $5,000 through her foundation, MuttNation, along with the hope to send more funds in the future. Additionally, the spunky singer and her mother (chair of MuttNation) said they would love to visit the zoo sometime soon.
Lambert’s music and courageous efforts show she’s open and loving to all kinds of kinds, whether they’re four-legged animals or two-legged humans.
