Townsquare Media would like to take a moment to say Thank You to all the Heroes Behind the Badge.  We want to say Thank You to all the police officers, sheriff’s deputies, corrections officers, detectives, parole officers, probation officers, SWAT team members, traffic cops, police supervisors, law enforcement managers, fire fighters, EMS personnel and police chiefs. This week we would like to honor Officer Travis Gundelach.

We asked Travis a few questions so we could get to know him better.

Best memory as a child: Any time spent with my grandparents is a great memory.  Enjoy them while they’re here.

Favorite music artist or song: I love anything my wife sings!  She’s a very gifted singer, but has not yet recorded an album.

Favorite Concert you went too: I’m not into concerts, but I do enjoy theater.  We go to the Majestic Theater in San Antonio for plays semi-regularly.

Favorite place to eat locally: The Gold Mine.  Wonderful and quaint family-owned restaurant.

How long they have been in law enforcement?  About 19 years

Do you have any pets? If so what are their names? Ha! My wife has two cats!  I’m not really a cat person, and they refuse to leave me alone.  They have guilted me into liking them!

What made you become an officer? (any advice)  I wanted variety in my job, and law enforcement certainly provided that.  The chance to make a positive impact in a person’s life when they may be at one of their lowest moments is incredibly rewarding.

Is anything you want the public to know about you or about law enforcement:  Not all cops are bad.  As a matter of fact, very few are bad.  Over the last couple of years, the news has been riddled with negative stories about cops.  Sometimes there are bad cops that do bad things and sometimes good cops just make mistakes.  In general, law enforcement is full of honest, hardworking men and women who possess a spirit of service and want to do their part in making our community safer.

If you know of someone who deserves to be honored please fill out the brief questionnaire below. Each week our station will be honoring a law enforcement person on air.
