Luke Bryan won Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 American Country Countdown Awards, and he celebrated the honor with an easygoing but amped-up version of "Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day."

Looking casual in jeans, a colorful plaid shirt and a baseball cap, Bryan strapped on an acoustic guitar and was augmented by his usual concert backing band. Still, he added understated, dramatic flair to this particular performance. Vocally, he slowed down as the song neared its end, drawing out lyrics such as "I'll be down here / Knee-deep in the Muckalee," and exhibiting some nice vibrato.

And that was merely a precursor to a big finish that found the fleet of electric guitarists from his band coming forward to center stage to shred on the tune's ending. Bryan got in the spirit as well: The musician turned his baseball cap around and stood in the middle of the group, pogoing and attacking his acoustic guitar like he was in a heavy metal band.

No wonder Bryan was out of breath when he walked over to accept his award from presenter Carrie Underwood.

"It's hard to do a speech after you've performed," he quipped, before thanking "somebody that's helped me as a vocalist, Jeff Stevens, through the years, as a producer, everything he's done for me."

Bryan also thanked his other songwriters and collaborators, as well as his fans, his "beautiful" wife, "the good Lord above" and "this incredible band behind me who plays their butts off every night for me." He ended his brief speech with a shout-out to country radio and the "boys back home in Leesburg."

Other Male Vocalist of the Year nominees were Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Sam Hunt and Jason Aldean.
