‘Lonesome Dove Fest’ Begins Thursday
"Lonesome Dove Fest" starts Thursday, September 19th at the Karnes County Youth Show Barn grounds on U.S. 181 between Karnes City and Kenedy. The schedule of events is as follows;
Thursday - Black Gold Shootout at 1 p.m. . The shootout will consist of a five-member, five-stand clay target competition between representatives of companies related to the oil and gas operations that have moved into the area.
Friday - Youth Day; Raisin' Kane will provide musical entertainment Friday evening; team sporting clays competition from 5 p.m. to sundown
Saturday - Parade at 10 a.m.; celebrity challenge five-stand clay target event pitting the shooting skills of media members against local and state officials will be held at 2 p.m.; Heart of Texas DockDogs organization will present a canine aquatics competition and shows where trained hunting dogs will display their extraordinary talents in retrieving from a large water tank set up on the Youth Show grounds. Competitions happen ay 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday and then 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Nunn will perform after the live auction about 9:30 p.m.
Admission is free before 8 p.m. Saturday, $10 after 8 p.m.
