On this day in 1988, Kacey Musgraves was born in Sulpher Springs, Texas. She began song writing at the age of eight, when she wrote a song called "Notice Me" for her elementary school graduation. Musgraves first got her start in the country music industry at the age of 18, she used to record demos to earn money.  Her mother would take her to local music festivals to sing western swing music. Musgraves looked up to Alison Krauss and Lee Ann Womack, her favorite artist was John Prine.

If you are fan of Kacey, you know she is as real as it gets.  She does things her way and is known for her controversial lyrics. Her music is one of a kind and that is why people love her style.  In 2013, she won New Artist of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards in 2013 following her debut single, "Merry Go 'Round." She also co-writes Miranda Lambert's hit "Mama's Broken Heart." Musgraves has toured alongside many renowned acts such as Kenny Chesney, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum, and Chris Stapleton plus many more!  She has won CMA Awards, Grammy Awards, and ACM Awards. She has also been nominated for many others as well.  I for one, am a huge fan of Kacey's straight forward, Texas infused, Country music.
