In late-1973, Dolly Parton was coming out from under the shadow of her long-time mentor and duet partner, the late Porter Wagoner. She released a haunting song about a woman trying to keep her man from leaving her for another woman named "Jolene." The song became a Number One smash in early-1974, and Dolly's solo career took off. "Jolene" has since been covered numerous times by other artists, but you've probably never heard it done quite like this! Here is Dolly's original 1973 RCA Victor recording, slowed down from it's original speed by 25%. See if you don't think it still sounds pretty awesome!
