Johnny Cash’s Property Could Become Residential Medical Facility
The 30-year home of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash may soon become a residential medical facility.
The Tennessean reports that the 4.5-acre lakefront property, which was purchased by Lakehouse Holdings, is a total of four lots across Old Hickory Lake that are zoned as being a residential area. Essentially, this would allow one single family home per lot for a total of four homes.
A letter was submitted this week to allow for a change to the city’s Land Use and Transportation Plan. Instead of the residential area being considered as “suburban living,” the developers are asking that 200 Caudill Drive become an “employment center.”
Hendersonville Planning Director Fred Rogers says this is the very first step to eventually getting the area rezoned, and they plan to build a residential medical facility. There should be more details by Aug. 4 including what it would look like, how many buildings would sit on the lot, etc.
The next step will be for the plans to be reviewed by the city’s planning staff. Then, they’ll come before the Hendersonville Regional Planning Commission in early September. A public hearing is also scheduled for that same night. Once the planning commission approves or disapproves the amendment, the project will go in front of the city’s General Committee followed by the full Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
