Country music artist Jerrod Niemann will rock the main stage at Bootfest this year. "You don't get guys of his caliber in this town," Joel Novosad, communications and services manager with the Victoria Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the Victoria Advocate.

Bootfest is trying to continue last year's hype by continuing to bring in a national act, Novosad said. Organizers reached out to determine which bands had a good vibe in the industry and to make sure each band adds unique talent to Bootfest.

In addition to the main stage acts, Novosad said, officials are wanting to bring back a second stage, which will be filled with area and up-and-coming acts. Officials announced the 2013 lineup on Bootfest's Facebook page Friday.

A resolution passed Tuesday at the Victoria City Council meeting approving the $25,000 contract to have Niemann perform at Bootfest.

Kansas-born Niemann isn't a stranger to country music, and he has appeared several times on U.S. and Canadian country music charts. His most notable song is his 2010 debut single, "Lover, Lover," which ranked No. 1 on the U.S. country music charts and is certified platinum.

Other artists performing at the free two-day event include Six Market Blvd, The Turnpike Troubadors, Bri Bagwell and Micky and The Motorcars.
