As far as historic Texas dance halls go, you can't really make a list without including Schroeder Hall. The nearly 100 year old dance hall has hosted some legendary acts over the years with the likes of Merle Haggard, George Jones and Willie Nelson just to name a few.

However, there comes a time in most long standing businesses' lives where ownership change is a given and for Schroeder Hall, now is that time.

Beginning April 1st (and this is no April Fool's Day joke) Schroeder Hall will be for sale on Ebay. And the starting bid? Only $1

The owner, ATX Brands based in Austin, bought the hall in June 2014 from Sharon and Jack Kleinecke. Just 3 years later ATX Brands CEO Doug Guller has high hopes someone local will win the auction and former owner Sharon Kleinecke agrees saying it takes someone local to be able to run the place like it should be run. With a little hard work and dedication. She also believes since local people know what local people want to see, it's imperative for the survival of the hall for someone local to purchase it.

So if you've ever wanted to own a piece of Texas dance hall history, be sure to check on Ebay starting April 1st. The hall will be up for bid most likely for 30 days, but company officials have not come to final decision on the length yet.

The hall is about 14,000 square feet, has a 6,000-square-foot oak dance floor and sits on 5 acres. The sale will also include 2 acres across the street that has two older houses, a shed and a cemetery.

No word yet on if there will be a reserve price or not. I imagine there would be but we shall see.
