From the 'hometown boy does good' file... George Strait has done it again! I'm not sure who actually picks his material, but for a guy who doesn't write (well, he doesn't write very much, anyway), he's done really well during this era of the 'singer-songwriter'. It just so happens that Strait has a co-writing credit on this one. Mo money, mo money, mo money!!

George Strait has scored his 58th #1 with “Here for a Good Time” topping the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart this week. The legendary singer says getting to the coveted spot is a team effort. CMT Daily Roundup quoted Strait as saying, “It’s tough to get a #1 record. But, I’ve been fortunate through the years to be able to find some good songs and…got a great promotions department and everybody at MCA records has been behind me for all these years and um…it’s been a good team.” “Here for a Good Time” is the title track to his latest album, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.  George co-wrote “Here for a Good Time” with his son, Bubba Strait, and songwriter Dean Dillon.
