Have You Seen Jarrod Birmingham Live?
One thing I love the best about my job is the opportunity to meet and listen to music from South Texas Country Artists. Before I moved to Texas I had never heard of the genre. When I got here, I instantly fell in love.
I have had many interviews with South Texas Country artists. Richie Albright, Wade Bowen, Kevin Fowler, Randy Rogers, Eli Young, Roger Creager, Ryan Beaver, Kyle Park, Dale Watson, and you guessed it Jarrod Birmingham. The list goes on and on.
I would have to say Jarrod Birmingham is by far one of my favorite interviews I’ve had. The man has led a more than interesting life and has vouchers to prove he’s been to hell and back. I think that’s important if your going to be an artist, and more importantly a songwriter. Perhaps you have already had the chance to see Jarrod live or have been following him for quite a while. Since his first cd “Waitin and Wishin” came out in 2001, the album “Stages” in 2003, 2004 “Live and Kickin It at Schroeder Hall”, “No Apologies” in 2006, and now his latest and greatest album “Jesus and Johnny Cash” which was released last year.
After a few interviews with Jarrod the past couple years I’ve noticed a new Jarrod Birmingham. His greatest side has came out with this new album and it shows. It’s not all about partying anymore, but more about life. His life. Your life. His troubles in the past. That is what makes a good musician, writing about real stories. I think that’s what sets Jarrod apart from other Texas Country Artists, is his ability to connect with just about anybody no matter what it is they are going through.
I highly suggest you see Jarrod Birmingham and if you plan on it, buy your tickets early as most of his shows sell out. He just played the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and was the 4th year in a row he broke the attendance record. Full capacity was at 7:45 p.m. No matter where you go if Jarrod is supposed to play there I assure you it will be packed. If you plan on going to the Goliad fair this year get there early as he will be playing March 19th at 8:00 p.m.
Other dates in this area that you can experience true Texas Country will be April 1st for Round up Days at Ingleside. He will be in Victoria at Lu Raq’s April 2nd. May 7th in Kenedy for Bluebonnet Days which is always a great time. Slam Jam in Port O’ Conner June 18th and many more. For more concert dates click here
You can hear songs from Jarrod if you listen to KIXS 108 no matter what the time of the day is, Joe Bob puts him in the rotation quite often and lately since his latest hit “Jesus and Johnny Cash” came out, it has been requested many times throughout the day. Other singles from Jarrod you will hear on KIXS 108 are “Pure Blue Heartache”, “December Gone”, “That’s What Dancers Do”, “Nothing To Prove”, and many more. You will just have to call in and request him at (361) 573-0108. Like I said earlier, if you want real Texas Country go to a Jarrod Birmingham concert.
