The Lavaca County Tractor Pullers Association's annual Texas Antique Tractor Show and Pull is Friday and Saturday at Hallettsville's Wilbur Baber Memorial Complex, Farm-to-Market Road 957 at County Road 200. Now in its seventh year, the event offers a chance to take part in the pull or for a first-hand look at both old and new farm equipment, Mark Hermes, the show's director, told the Victoria Advocate.

The event includes vendor booths, a full concession stand and tractor pulls for both adults and children, Hermes said. Tug-a-Tractor, where teams of five men or eight women pull a nonrunning tractor 30 feet to cross the finish line, also joins the mix.

A tractor parade on Saturday offers a look at each of the varieties on display, with a description of the machines as they pass by. Hermes said the indoor facility means the show will take place, rain or shine. Admission is $10 but free to those age 12 and under. The hook fee for those participating in the tractor pull is $20. Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, and Hermes said proceeds benefit a variety of Lavaca County charities, such as area 4-H groups
