Granger Smith has had a busy week. A day after he traveled to all 13 colonies for his Granger Across Merica Pledge of Allegiance Tour, he headed to the Big Apple to perform his No. 1 single "Backroad Song" on Today Tuesday morning (March 8).

Hoda Kotb asked Smith if he's still at the "pinch me" stage of his career, and his answer was a resounding "absolutely."

"We've worked at this for a long time but to see something that you can hang on the wall and say No. 1, it's a huge feeling," he explains.

Dressed in a camo hat, jeans and boots, Smith then performed that No. 1 single "Backroad Song," and for four minutes, he transported the New York City audience to the backroads of the country. Smith was all smiles during the spirited performance and no doubt impressed those watching, including co-host Kotb.

"Oh my goodness, it makes you want to sing along," she remarked at the song's end.

Remington, released March 4, is Smith’s eighth album and his first on Wheelhouse Records. "Backroad Song" is the lead single off the album. “If the Boot Fits,” is the second single, and as Smith explains in this Taste of Country premiere, it’s a country boy’s Cinderella story.

Smith has tour dates on the books for the rest of the year.
