Granger Smith Announces Fourth Annual 100-Mile Walk for a Cause
Granger Smith is walking a miles in someone else's shoes. Or, rather, he's walking 100 miles in combat boots for the fourth annual 100-mile Boot Walk to support the troops.
Just like last year, the Texas born and bred singer will log miles on foot to pay tribute to those serving our country in the U.S. Armed Forces. He's been doing it since 2011, bringing his total to 400 miles in 2014.
Not only is every step taken in heavy combat boots, but Smith's charity walk benefits the Boot Campaign, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting patriotism, raising awareness and providing assistance to military families -- something that the rising country star is deeply passionate about.
Last year, Smith's efforts brought in $20,000, and for the 2014 Boot Walk, he is aiming to collect $50,000. His journey runs from May 4-8, 2014 and will start in Austin and end in Fort Hood, Texas. Supporters are encouraged to gather and give the singer much-needed encouragement during his lunch breaks (the only time he stops, other than to sleep) as he walks along his route.
The Boot Walk is definitely not a walk in the park, but it's for a noble cause -- which is how the 'Miles and Mud Tires' singer keeps his feet moving. On the final day of the trek, Smith will put on a concert in his final destination, honoring our nation's military men and women and letting civilians and soldiers alike attend for free.
