There's been a lot of work going on at the Club at Colony Creek. With six months of renovations behind it, The Club at Colony Creek will host its grand opening festivities. Members and their guests are invited to attend Friday and Saturday for a ribbon cutting ceremony, live entertainment, member-guest golf tournament and children's activities, according to a company news release in the Victoria Advocate. A fireworks display also joins the mix Saturday evening.

The club operates on a semi-private basis, catering to members and the public daily, Morgan Rhodes, the company's director of events, memberships and marketing, said. Amenities include a modernized clubhouse and event space, pool, tennis courts, social events and The Grille, a new Southern-style restaurant and bar.

"The grand opening is a member-guest event, but after this weekend we look forward to meeting with potential new members and invite interested parties to visit the club or give us a call," she said.

The company in February announced Robby Burdge, Elton Calhoun, Greg Norgard and Claud Jacobs purchased what was then known as Colony Creek Country Club. Southern Golf Properties was announced as the facility's manager.

Updates include a new pro, greens superintendent, course improvements and new clubhouse, Jacobs said, adding that the facility is affordable for families, business owners and corporations. "It's exciting for Victoria residents to be part of the club and enjoy a great golf course," he said. "The Club at Colony Creek is a great value and we invite everyone to come see us."
