Get into the holiday spirit with the Conspirare. The Grammy-nominated choral group will return Thursday at 7:30pm to First United Methodist Church, 407 North Bridge Street. The group will perform traditional songs of the season, Americana classics and the Beatles. This year, Conspirare will perform with special guest singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster, whose career includes Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2010 and Best Blues Album in 2012. Austin-based Conspirare and Foster will sing holiday favorites and songs from Foster's album, "Let It Burn."

Conspirare conductor and artistic director Craig Hella Johnson is looking forward to Thursday's collaboration with Foster. "She inhabits every song she sings and sings from the essence of the song in a wide variety of styles," he said in a press release to the Victoria Advocate. "I could not ask for a more engaging and perfect collaborator." The songs are an innovative blend of sacred and secular, art music and popular music concert hall performances.
