18 year old Ulyess Troy Bland Jr. was honored by the Texas Rangers last week when he got to throw the first pitch to start the game against the Toronto Blue Jays in Arlington.

Bland got the honor thanks to an Eagle Scout project where he vollected shoes for kids in African orphanages and, over a 6 month period, he collected 554 pairs of shoes for the cause.

Bland, who is a 5 year member of Boy Scout Troop 60, is also a Senior and an athlete at Goliad High School.
