Being a gymnast takes a lot of self-discipline, hard work, lots of hours training, focus, patience, strength, heart and talent! My Goddaughter Mackenzie Blain will be competing today in trampoline and double mini in Kentucky at the USA Gymnastics National Championship. I don’t know if you have ever gone and watched a gym meet but let me tell you I admire every one of those kids for getting up there in front of their coaches, teammates, friends, and judges who are watching every move they make. A gymnast only has seconds to do a perfect routine for which they have practiced many hours, days, and months for. Being a gymnasts is different than other sports cause you don’t get another chance or another inning to change the score… you get one shot and it all depends on you.  I am so proud of Mackenzie for all the hard work she has put into training for this day. I admire her for believing in herself. I have gone and watched her compete and let me tell you it’s intense. Just thinking of the past competitions I get tears in my eyes thinking of the hard work, love, and determination she has at such a young age for this sport. Her dedication is amazing. I wish her the best of luck and can’t wait to see her take the gold.

Mackenzie trains at South Texas Elite Gymnastics and Cheer in Cuero under Chad Ganaway. Kennedy Dudley is also competing this week. Kennedy and Mackenzie will compete in the Level 8 through Elite competition. Kennedy is a four time national trampoline champion will be competing in Level 10 trampoline and double-mini. This is Mackenzie fourth time to go to nationals. Good luck girls!
