I remember when I was a kid (yes... I was once a kid... come to think of it, I still am) there were a couple of days I looked forward to every year. One of them was the opening day of the public swimming pools. I would almost guarantee you it's still that way with kids. Well... I have some bad news and some good news.

The summer opening of the Gary T. Moses Municipal Swimming Pool has been postponed until June 18. The opening was originally set for June 11 but had to be pushed back because several lifeguards haven't finished training, city spokesman O.C. Garza told the Victoria Advocate. So it's really a matter of safety.

The pool will be open 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday in the summer, and entry is $1.50 per person.
