There was over 2,ooo flags and almost 500 soldiers that came to a ceremony honoring their time served and their dedication to this great country.  These guys have sacrificed so much for our freedom and you could see they really appreciated all the people there to greet and thank them. 

There will be a fish fry at 6:00 at the Port O’ Conner Community Center followed by pier fishing at Froggies Boat Dock and the same goes for tommorrow.  I hope y’all can go out there and show your support for these fine soldiers.

“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this – I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” Cowell said in a statement, confirming a deal with his former ‘American Idol’ cohort had been reached.

Newspapers across the country reacted to the demise of Osama bin Laden on Monday morning, with front page headlines from the triumphant (Newark’s “Star-Ledger” quotes Obama’s speech with “‘Justice Has Been Done’”) to the minimal (“Dead,” the “Boston Herald” and many others plainly state) to the profane (“Rot in Hell!” exclaims the “New York Daily News“).

Everyday on KIXS 108 we have a feature called person of the day.  It plays everyday at 7:20, 11:20, 4:20, and 8:20.  You actually get KIXS VIP points if you listen for that persons name and enter the name into  your account to receive points.  Last week the people of the day were Dr. Peter Reisz, Andrea Blomberg, Bruce Ure, Ginny Stafford, and Blackwood Family. 

We pick one of those people at random and then they win either a flower arrangement or a snack basket from McAdams Floral.  Last week our winner was Andrea Blomberg and she won a flower arrangement from McAdams which looked amazing. 

After I delivered the flowers at the Texas Zoo, I decided to look around for a few minutes and went over to the Lion Cubs, well they’re not so much cubs anymore.  They have grown quite a bit since I last seen them.  Here they are playing and I also took a pic of the two spider monkeys as they looked a little confused as to who I was.  Or maybe they were shocked when they seen what a radio dj looks like.  You should go see the Lion cubs over there at the Texas Zoo.  They are open daily from 9-5.

The stars hit the red carpet for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, including nominees Natalie Portman, Melissa Leo, Michelle Williams, Christian Bale, Jesse Eisenberg, plus co-host Anne Hathaway.

According to rumors around the web, Adrianne Palicki, who starred as the character Tyra Collette in “Friday Night Lights”, was the only actress invited to test for the role. As such, it appears she’s landed the coveted role for the NBC pilot written by David E. Kelley (of Ally McBeal fame) and will be the first TV Wonder Woman since Linda Carter retired the golden lasso.

In the conversations around the water cooler in regards to who should play the role of Wonder Woman, the most repeated argument was, “No way, she’s too short.” Standing at 5′ 11″, that argument can’t be made for the casting of Palicki. She even went so far as to play basketball in high school if you were thinking about going the athleticism argument route.

There are sure to be some rants and raves about who would and wouldn’t be a more perfect choice for the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman but it would appear that this is the final choice. And it may very well be the right one but only the pilot will tell.

We know they like to bet on anything and everything in Vegas but we’re betting (pun intended) that no one, not even the most hardcore gamblers, would have bet on it snowing several inches out in Las Vegas. On more than one occasion.

But that’s just what it has done on several occasions since the beginning of the year.

A minor inconvenience in towns where snow is a regular occurrence, the few inches Vegas has been getting is enough to cause some severe problems.

Traffic jams, delayed flights, road closings… this isn’t the typical weather in Sin City and it shows each time it happens. We’re wondering if they have odds on it continuing till the end of winter.
