I've often heard it said, "nothing will help you with your own problems more than helping someone else with theirs". Here is a perfect opportunity to help others and get some professional training in life skills.

Hospice of South Texas announced the next volunteer training course will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon each Thursday beginning May 24 and running through July 19, according to the Victoria Advocate. Classes will meet at the Victoria office, 605 E. Locust Avenue.

More volunteers, especially veterans and Spanish-speakers, are needed to support the Hospice of South Texas mission of giving comfort to patients and their families in the final months of a life-limiting illness.

The course is offered by Hospice of South Texas free of charge with all materials provided. Upon completion of the training, volunteers will be ready to companion patients and offer support to the family caregivers. If you are able to give a couple of hours a week to make a big difference, register for this life-skills course by calling Hospice of South Texas at 361-572-4300 or 1-800-874-6908.
