Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Natalie Maines to Salute Bruce Springsteen at MusiCares Foundation Event
Country superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will join Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, Emmylou Harris and an all-star cast of music’s brightest for a salute to Bruce Springsteen at the upcoming MusiCares gala on Feb. 8 in Los Angeles. The official charity of the Recording Academy has named the blue-collar rocker their Person of the Year.
“Bruce Springsteen is a truly gifted and Renaissance artist of our time, a national treasure, and an exemplary humanitarian,” said MusiCares Foundation President and CEO Neil Portnow in a press release. “His career is a testament to the power of creative excellence, and his contributions as a philanthropist speak to the tenacity of the human spirit. We are privileged and honored to pay tribute to Bruce this year as our MusiCares Person of the Year.”
The country stars will join legendary rockers Elton John, Sting, Jackson Browne and Neil Young, alternative rockers Mumford & Sons, and R&B stars John Legend and Mavis Staples in performing Springsteen’s songs at the event, which is scheduled to take place two days before the Grammys. Jon Stewart of ‘The Daily Show’ will host the gala, which will also include a silent auction offering an exclusive selection of luxury items, VIP experiences and one-of-a-kind celebrity memorabilia for bidding guests.
All money raised from the MusiCares event will go to support people in the music industry who need financial, medical or personal help.
“Bruce is synonymous with artistic independence and a passion for causes that are close to his heart,” stated Scott Pascucci, Chair of the MusiCares Foundation Board. “His career seamlessly combines inspiration and charity, and it’s a reminder that we can all do our part to make the world a better place.”
