Eyes on Our Heroes Finalist Receives multiple letters of recommendation in an unprecedented move, Victoria Eye Center has announced a surprise 4th winner of free LASIK in their 3rd annual Eyes on Our Heroes contest.

Bryan is a 10 year veteran of law enforcement in the Golden Crescent area with the last 4 years serving as a patrol deputy for the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. In September of 2014, Deputy Martin was on a traffic stop with a suspected Intoxicated driver, and during the encounter, the suspect rushed Deputy Martin and shoved him over the guardrail of the bridge. Deputy Martin fell over 20' and landed on his legs and back. He suffered a shattered left femur and a shattered L5 vertebrae. Deputy Martin was transported to an Army hospital in San Antonio where he underwent several surgeries to repair his femur and vertebrae. Deputy Martin recently returned to work, but is still suffering from the lasting effects of his injuries and is still scheduled to undergo additional surgeries for complications from the plates in his leg and back. Deputy Martin continues to fight through the pain every day as he serves the residents of Jackson County. He's been a long term wearer of glasses and contacts, which often interfere with the hectic responsibilities of a patrol deputy. Being free of the glasses/contacts burden would be a great benefit to Deputy Martin.
