It's hot y'all. I know this is not big news. My point is, there are people in and around our community who don't have or cannot afford the luxury of air conditioning, especially our senior citizens. Well, here's your chance to help.

Fans are needed to assist senior citizens during the summer heat. The Victoria County Senior Citizens Center has a waiting list of more than 100 people who need fans, said Debra Garner, executive director. According to the Victoria Advocate, cash donations for the center to buy fans will also be accepted. New fans may be dropped off at the center, 603 E. Murray St. or the Community Action Committee office, 4007 Halsey St. Call 361-576-2189 for more information.

In Cuero, the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office Employee's Association is also accepting fan donations. Drop new fans off at 208 E. Live Oak St. Donations will be matched up to $500. For more information, call 361-275-0899.
