Dierks Bentley has already earned three consecutive chart-topping singles from his most recent album, Black, with three songs that he admits were different from much of the music that he's released over the past several years. So although he's grateful for his recent success, Bentley chose his latest single, "What the Hell Did I Say," as a thank you to his fans, who have graciously allowed the country star to take some chances musically.

"My fans are really patient on this record. We’ve taken a lot of twists and turns: "Somewhere on a Beach" was different. "Different for Girls" was different for me. And then "Black," for that to go No. 1, it’s not the typical song that does that," Bentley shared with The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "They’ve been really patient in allowing us to do stuff. So to come back with a song that’s a real down-the-middle, fun party song -- it’s kind of a good summer song, and I’m excited about it."

Bentley officially announced "What the Hell Did I Say" as his next single in a press release on Monday (June 26); the singer says he named his current What the Hell World Tour after the track, "hoping that it would be a single this summer because it perfectly captures the 'anything goes' spirit out there this year." Bentley's been out on the road for his trek since January, though he recently had to cancel a show because of some vocal problems. Thankfully, his voice is healed -- even though he's baffled by how he recovered so quickly.

"I don’t know how it got fixed. I can’t do voice rest with three kids; it just doesn’t happen. I’ve got to yell at somebody all the time," Bentley says. "You can’t yell on a piece of paper. You can cheer on a piece of paper, but you can’t yell."

"What the Hell Did I Say" is available for download on iTunes. A list of all of Bentley's upcoming shows is available on his website.
