In an effort to curb a recent increase in crime, the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office will host an information session Thursday at the Arneckeville Community Center. The crime prevention session begins at 6 p.m. Officers will discuss recent burglaries and preventive measures residents can take.

"Mostly, we will talk about frauds and scams," Sgt. Carl Bowen told the Victoria Advocate. "There are a lot of elderly who live out there, and this is just an education process for them." If it goes well, Bowen said he and the sheriff will extend the session to other communities in DeWitt County.
