It didn't win the Song of the Year or Single of the Year award at the 2013 CMAs, but Darius Rucker thinks his hit cover of 'Wagon Wheel' should be considered for a Grammy. In fact, he's going to be upset about it if it isn't.

"If Wagon Wheel doesn't get nominated for a Grammy, country music is screwed," Rucker told Dan Patrick during a chat on the Dan Patrick Show radio and television simulcast this week. The comments took place at the end of an interview that featured talk of favorite one-hit wonders (Rucker likes the Starland Vocal Band's 'Afternoon Delight'), the Miami Dolphins and if there is ever an acceptable time to use the N-word.

Rucker last won a Grammy for Best New Artist with Hootie and the Blowfish in 1996. Since turning to country music in 2008, he's won the CMA New Artist award, too. 'Wagon Wheel' is a cover of an Old Crow Medicine Show song that Bob Dylan helped write. The chart-topping hit has sold over two million singles, so it's not exactly going against the grain to suggest it should be nominated for a Grammy.
